Listen to Mindest & Action
"A Dream is only a Dream until you decide to make it real " - Harry Styles
EP 303
As Mindset in Action celebrates its fifth birthday, I’ve been feeling a little nostalgic – and incredibly proud. Hitting this milestone has given me the perfect opportunity to reflect on the journey so far. That reflection felt even more powerful after recently hosting my very first live event at the Castle Theatre in Wellingborough. It brought together brilliant speakers, generous sponsors, and an inspiring group of attendees from across the business community. It was a day filled with connection, learning, and celebration – and it reminded me just how far this podcast (and the business behind it) has come.
Now, I won’t pretend the day started smoothly. If you’ve ever run an event, you’ll understand the chaos: equipment to set up, nerves to manage, and even a locked venue door when I arrived! But once things got underway, the energy in the room was nothing short of magical. Watching different communities come together created a buzz that lasted all day – people were not just showing up, but leaning in, sharing ideas, making connections, and truly growing together. It was everything I’d hoped it would be.
A powerful thread that ran through the event was purpose. Nicola Tonsaga, host of Being Soul Confident, spoke beautifully about aligning with your purpose – and allowing that purpose to evolve. Her words really struck a chord with me. It’s not about finding one perfect path and sticking to it rigidly; it’s about staying connected to what feels right now and giving yourself permission to grow and pivot. That openness to change has certainly been part of my own business journey over the past five years.
We also had the brilliant Andrea Rainsford share her thoughts on planning and setting strong business boundaries. She only works two days a week – something many entrepreneurs would find unimaginable – but her clarity on why she does it, due to a health condition, really drove home the importance of knowing your reasons. It made me reflect on my own “no-work Fridays” policy, and why I sometimes let that boundary slip. Andrea reminded me that our time is precious – and so are the reasons we protect it.
Another session that stood out was Cheryl Ladlaw’s deep-dive into AI. So many attendees were either completely overwhelmed by it or didn’t even realise they were already using it! Cheryl broke it down in such an accessible way, showing us how tools like ChatGPT and Gemini can actually support our work – especially when tailored to things like UK English or brand tone. I came away feeling both inspired and empowered, with a whole list of new possibilities whirring in my brain.
From audience growth tips with Janine Coney financial conversations with Diane Watson to an interview all about the benefits of podcasting, where Catherine Chapman interviewed me, the day was packed with insight. We rounded things out with breathwork, laughter yoga, and some very moving stories from Catherine and Cat Googe, who are both running the London Marathon for causes close to their hearts. I was reminded once again why I started this journey in the first place: not just to build a business, but to build a life that matters – one fuelled by purpose, joy, connection, and meaningful impact. As we approach the fifth birthday episode, I’d love to hear from you – your favourite episodes, takeaways, or how the podcast has supported you. Here’s to the next chapter.
