TEXT ME

In Episode 278 of the Mindset & Action Podcast, I had the pleasure of welcoming Alex Standley, a sustainable stylist and fashion consultant, to discuss how style can empower women and elevate confidence. Alex shared her journey into styling, highlighting how her passion grew from personal experience as a new mum to creating a mission around female empowerment through style. She explained that her work goes beyond the material aspects of fashion; it's about helping women reconnect with themselves and show up in their power.

During our chat, we delved into productivity, which is one of the core pillars of my podcast. Alex spoke candidly about her journey from a highly time-pressured corporate environment to learning the importance of balance as an entrepreneur. She emphasised the value of unlearning certain habits—like the need to respond immediately—and replacing them with self-care practices like taking breaks and allowing time for rest. It was a great reminder that prioritising self-care can lead to better focus and productivity in business.

Alex also touched on the importance of goal-setting and planning, another key pillar of the podcast. She shared how she uses vision boards and quarterly goal mapping to maintain focus. For Alex, this approach helps to break down bigger objectives into manageable tasks, allowing her to stay aligned with her business values. I found it fascinating how she balances the demands of her work with maintaining clear boundaries, particularly when it comes to turning down opportunities that don't align with her goals.

One topic we both connected on was audience building. Alex detailed how she uses multiple platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn to connect with potential clients and build her community. Despite the challenges of balancing social media presence across different platforms, Alex shared that she’s found LinkedIn to be particularly valuable for connecting with like-minded professionals in sustainable fashion. We both agreed on the importance of being where your ideal clients are and using social media to foster meaningful connections.

In our conversation, Alex also highlighted the impact of clothing on mindset and productivity. She stressed that dressing in a way that makes you feel confident can transform your day, whether you’re working from home or attending a networking event. It was a great reminder that style isn't just about looking good—it’s a form of self-care that can enhance how you feel and perform in your business. As someone who often opts for comfort, I appreciated her perspective on how a little effort with styling can go a long way.

Wrapping up the episode, Alex shared her process for working with clients, which includes a personalised style journey from colour analysis to wardrobe edits. Her approach is all about creating a style that aligns with each woman's unique personality and goals.
