On this episode of The Mindset & Action podcast, we are talking about the exciting yet daunting world of scaling a business. I know, I know – the very thought of "scaling" can send shivers down the spine. Trust me, I get it. Personally, the idea of managing a team of 20 terrifies me. It’s like juggling cats – cute but utterly impossible! That being said, scaling doesn’t always mean becoming a corporate giant. It can be as simple as creating a business that runs smoothly enough for you to enjoy a holiday without constantly checking your emails. Imagine that!

One of the key takeaways from this episode is that scaling gives you freedom. Freedom to choose how involved you want to be, whether it’s running the show yourself or delegating to a well-oiled team. I shared a funny yet relatable story about Carrie Green, the founder of FEA, who, while vacationing in Greece, still ran her CEO Power Hour. While she could have easily delegated, she chose to show up for her community, demonstrating how scaling allows you to be involved on your own terms.

Now, where does podcasting fit into all of this? Well, it’s a fantastic way to build authority and grow your audience. I threw out some eye-opening stats: 90% of people who start a podcast don’t make it past episode three. And of those who do, 90% don’t make it past episode 21. If you can push through, you’re in the elite 1%, and that’s where you start to stand out. I’m not saying you’ll be the next Amy Porterfield overnight, but her 10-year journey is proof that persistence pays off. The consistency in podcasting helped her scale her business, and it can help you too.

One of the magical things about podcasting is the connection you build with your listeners. Unlike video or written content, when someone listens to your podcast, it’s an intimate experience. They’re letting you into their ears – sometimes literally! This connection builds trust quickly, which is crucial when you’re trying to grow your business. And, because people love a good story, your podcast can become a storytelling platform where you share your journey, case studies, and valuable insights that resonate on a deeper level.

But let’s be real – with great podcasting power comes great responsibility. It’s not just about turning on the mic and talking. Your content needs to align with your business goals. Planning your episodes around your marketing calendar, promotions, and lead magnets ensures that your podcast is not only entertaining but also a strategic tool for business growth. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – if you’re not aligning your podcast with your business, you’re missing a trick!

Finally, we touched on some common podcasting pitfalls, including inconsistent posting and lack of promotion. If you want to lose listeners fast, be flaky with your upload schedule. Your podcast becomes part of your listeners’ routine, and if you disappear for a few weeks, they might not come back. So, consistency is key! And don’t forget to promote, promote, promote – even when you feel like you’ve mentioned your podcast a hundred times. Trust me, someone out there still hasn’t heard about it!
