"If we have that vision and we have that aim and we have that desire, then it’s possible — because if it wasn’t, we wouldn’t have it within us in the first place " - Nicola Tonsager
EP 306
At our recent live event, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Nicola Tonsager, founder of Soul Signatures and host of The Being Soul Confident Podcast, to talk about something every entrepreneur faces at some point—imposter syndrome. Nicola’s approach to mindset is both grounded and soul-led, and her insights into how self-worth and belief shape our experiences were powerful and deeply resonant with our audience.
Nicola opened the conversation by reminding us that imposter syndrome isn’t a sign of weakness or failure. Instead, it’s often a natural byproduct of growth. When we step into something unfamiliar—an up-level in our business or a bold new idea—it’s normal for self-doubt to creep in. But rather than letting it derail us, Nicola encouraged us to see it as a signal that we’re expanding beyond our comfort zones. “It’s not about asking ‘Can I do this?’” she said, “It’s about asking, ‘How am I going to do this?’”
One of the most impactful takeaways from the conversation was Nicola’s emphasis on internal validation. She explained that so many of us are taught to look outside ourselves for confirmation that we’re good enough, smart enough, or capable enough. But building lasting confidence means shifting the focus inward. When our sense of self-worth is rooted within, we become less susceptible to the highs and lows of external opinion—and more resilient in the face of challenges.
Of course, comparison can be a huge trigger for imposter syndrome—especially in the world of online business. Nicola spoke candidly about her own struggle with trying to follow marketing strategies that didn’t align with who she was. It wasn’t until she gave herself permission to do business her way that things started to click. She encouraged everyone to stop comparing their year two to someone else’s year five and instead embrace their unique path and timing.
What really landed with our audience was Nicola’s reminder that personal growth and business growth go hand in hand. When you are in business to serve—to help others, to create joy, to bring transformation—it’s natural that you’ll face moments that challenge you. But if you can stay focused on your vision, the “why” that drives you, that voice of doubt gets quieter. “Your goal has to be bigger than your fear,” Nicola said. “If you have the vision, then it’s possible—because if it wasn’t, you wouldn’t have it in the first place.”
This conversation was the perfect start to our live event series, setting the tone for heart-led growth and unapologetic authenticity. Nicola’s words were a reminder that mindset isn’t just a buzzword—it’s the foundation of everything we create. If you’re feeling stuck, unsure, or like a fraud, know that you’re not alone—and that your next level is waiting just on the other side of self-belief.
