Personal Insights on Battling the Inner Critic MMM Ep199
"It's not what you are that holds you back, it's what you think you are not." - Denis Waitley
EP 199
The phenomenon of imposter syndrome touches many professionals, leading to a common yet often unspoken struggle. It's a deceptive inner narrative that undermines one’s achievements and intrinsic worth. This episode of the Mindset and Action podcast delves into this topic with a level of candour that I hope will resonate with you dear listener.
I openly share my journey from the early days of my career as a wedding photographer, through my expansion into portraiture and newborn photography, to my current business as a podcast host and mentor. The transition from one photography niche to another not only required a mastery of new skills but also an unwavering belief in the value of her work, something that I admit was not always present.
You're given a raw look at the challenge of pricing creative work—a task that often triggers imposter syndrome in artists and entrepreneurs alike. I recall the pressure to adhere to industry standards and the inner conflict that arises when customers are hesitant to pay the prices that truly reflect the quality of one's work. I encourage you to consider the role of mindset in business and how it influences not only self-perception but also customer interactions and ultimately, business success.

The discussion is not one-sided. Instead, I extend a call to action, inviting you to engage and share your own experiences and strategies for overcoming the mental blocks that stifle professional growth. As someone who still finds tackling imposter syndrome difficult I'm eager for any tips you can share.
As the podcast approaches its 200th episode, a significant milestone, I am so excited. It's going to be a great episode of reflection and celebration but also I'm going to be sharing my new calendar for 2024 and share the reason for this massive change which you might have heard others talking about or may have considered yourself.

In a society where the dialogue around mental health and professional insecurities is becoming increasingly open, this episode of Mindset and Action is meant as a beacon of hope and encouragement. I want to reassure you that imposter syndrome, while daunting, is not insurmountable, and that value lies not just in the work one produces but also in the courage to confront and conquer one's inner critic. First step acknowledging it's there in the first place.
For anyone battling the relentless waves of self-doubt, I hope my story helps you realise you are not alone. And I want to remind you that success is not defined by the absence of fear but by the determination to move forward despite it, to acknowledge one's worth, and to redefine success on one's own terms.
The Mindset and Action podcast has not only provided a platform for growth and learning but has also cultivated a community where vulnerability is not a weakness but a catalyst for empowerment. As we anticipate the 200th episode, we do so with a renewed sense of purpose and the knowledge that our struggles, shared and addressed openly, can lead us to triumph.
